Biography
Justyna LOVIC Chmielowiec
Justyna is a Polish pianist based in Paris.
In 2007, she graduated from the Academy of Music in Łódź, named after K. and G. Bacewicz, in the class of Marek Drewnowski (a pianist renowned for his recordings of Scarlatti’s Sonatas and the complete works of Chopin). She then continued her studies in Paris, joining two prestigious institutions: the École Normale Supérieure de Musique Alfred Cortot and the Schola Cantorum, in the class of Eugène Indjic (a pupil of Rubinstein).
She also refined her artistry under the guidance of pianist Rita Bouboulidi (a pupil of Edwin Fischer and former professor at the Juilliard School in New York) and Jacques Rouvier.
Passionate and dedicated, Justyna has performed in leading venues in France, including the Philharmonie de Paris, Théâtre Marigny, Théâtre Trianon, and at cultural institutions such as the Cercle France-Amériques, the Polish Embassy, the Polish Institute, and the Polish Library in Paris. She has also appeared in Nantes, Lyon, Marseille, and Tours, and has been invited to festivals such as the Chopin Festival in the Luxembourg Gardens and Les Arènes Lyriques on Montmartre.
In Poland, her playing has been heard in Żelazowa Wola, Warsaw, Bolesławiec, and at the Sienkiewicz Manor in Oblęborok, as well as at the Słupsk Piano Festival and the Olivier Messiaen Festival in Zgorzelec.
In 2013, she joined the celebrated French singer Christophe Bevilacqua as a guest artist on his concert tour Intime, performing works by Chopin and Liszt. She has also appeared on France Inter and FIP radio, and on national television (France 2) as a guest on Michel Drucker’s iconic cultural program Vivement Dimanche.
Her international career includes a 2019 tour in Mexico with performances at the Palcco Theatre in Guadalajara, as well as in Puerto Vallarta and Costa Careyes.
In 2021, she performed the role of Chopin in a Polish-French theatrical production commemorating the 200th anniversary of the birth of Cyprian Kamil Norwid. This performance was presented at the Polish Library in Paris, the Polish Academy of Sciences, the Auditorium of the Conservatoire in the 13th arrondissement of Paris, as well as at the Krasiński Palace in Opinogóra.
In 2022, she was awarded the International Cultural Prize “Golden Owl of the Polish Diaspora” in Vienna, recognizing her outstanding contribution to music.
Her musical journey has also led her to French Polynesia, where she spent several months in 2023 and 2024 giving recitals, performing duo concerts with violinist Anny Chen, and leading masterclasses. She has appeared in Tahiti, Bora Bora, and Moorea.
Alongside her concert work, she co-authored with Christophe Bevilacqua a piece for Sophie Fillières’ film Arrête ou je continue, and participated as pianist in the soundtrack recording of Mélanie Laurent’s Galveston.
Justyna Chmielowiec’s solo and chamber repertoire encompasses works by Haydn, Beethoven, Chopin, Liszt, Schubert, Schumann, Paderewski, Ravel, Debussy, Saint-Saëns, Rachmaninoff, Tchaikovsky, Orff (Carmina Burana in its version for two pianos, choir, and percussion ensemble), among many others.
